Plato's Timaeus
by the Greek Philosopher Plato - 360 BC

This is one of my favorite works by Plato.  It is a monologue given by Timaeus of Locri, exploring the nature of the universe and humanity.  This has been a highly influential book over the centuries, and was one of the few pieces of Greek philosophical literature available during the early Middle Ages.
